The General Department of Vietnam Customs will expand the round-the-clock electronic tax payment program for businesses who have asked customs authorities to transfer tax payment information to banks authorized to collect tax.

At present, legal basis is sufficient for upgrading and expanding the round-the-clock electronic tax payment. Accordingly, when enterprises have tax obligations, they will request customs authorities to transfer tax payment information to banks authorized to collect tax. According to the regulation on 24/7 electronic tax payment, companies need to self-create orders at the Customs Electronic Payment Gateway, authorize banks to automatically debit the account for tax payment as per the order delivered.

To adopt the 24/7 electronic tax payment method, they need to take two steps: Request customs authorities to transfer the tax debt information to banks where they already authorized debt deduction and authorize banks to debit the account for tax payment on given limits and time.

For that reason, they have to send a written request to the General Department of Vietnam Customs for immediate transfer of the receivable amount after they declare customs declaration forms on payable tax amount to banks at the service for collection. The verification of arising tax debts borne to them is based on their tax identification number information and their digital signature registered with customs authorities.

Therefore, when they authorize banks at the service, banks will automatically withdraw money from their account to pay taxes upon delivery of tax debt information from authorizing enterprises transferred by customs authorities.

To determine enterprises eligible for this program, the General Department of Vietnam Customs will focus on enterprises with a large volume of declarations, high tax payment values and financial capability and successful authorization of tax payment granted to banks.
