HCM City Customs Unearths Postal Drug Packets

Many postal packets sent from abroad have been found containing drugs by Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department.

According to the department, in early July 2019, Express Delivery Customs Unit detected and captured violated imported postal packets. Specifically, on July 2, this unit uncovered a parcel weighing 3 kg sent from France to Vietnam, suspected to contain heroin. Then, on July 4, this unit unveiled an extra parcel of 7.17 kg mailer sent from Germany to Vietnam and a parcel of 5.53 kg sent from France to Vietnam, suspected to contain drug inside.

Previously, in response to the phase 1 of the ME319 Project, on June 25 and 26, 2019, the Drug Control and Prevention Team under the HCM City Customs Department led and coordinated with the Express Delivery Customs Unit, Team 6 of the Anti-smuggling Investigation Authority under the General Department of Vietnam Customs and Unit PC04 under Ho Chi Minh City Police inspected seven imported parcels and found over 14 kg of synthetic drugs, including MDMA (ecstasy) and Ketamine.

These parcels were sent from France, Germany and Thailand to Ho Chi Minh City through international postal services and express delivery services, shadowed in the form of personal non-commercial gifts.
