The 2020 Work Agenda of the Central Steering Committee of the National Target Program on New Rural Development in the 2016-2020 period was signed and issued by Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung.

The country strives to have at least 60% of communes meeting new countryside standards, less than 600 communes fulfilling less than 10 criteria, and have at least 15 more district units recognized by the Prime Minister as achieving new countryside standards, as compared to 2019. At the same time, to improve the effectiveness of the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program and have 2,400 OCOP products, one of the program’s tasks is focusing on reviewing and assessing the current status of new countryside development of newly formed communes and districts at the back of the Resolution of the 14th National Assembly’s Standing Committee.

Moreover, the committee will actively review and speed up the completion to submit thematic new rural development schemes to the Prime Minister and competent authorities for approval; direct the Ha Tinh Provincial People’s Committee to formulate a pilot project on the “province of new rural development in 2021-2025” and the pilot project on “Nghi Xuan district achieves the culturally exemplified new countryside district associated with tourism and service development” to submit to the province for consideration and approval.
