Surveying Seafood Value Chain in Southern Region

Posted: Friday, October 21, 2016

Given its advantages in seafood production, Vietnam has an increasingly important position on the world market with particularly strong products such as pangasius, brackish water shrimp and tuna. Driven by international economic integration (joining WTO, TPP and AEC), Vietnam’s seafood will face greater competitive pressures because it is now able to engage in low value chains. Therefore, creating more added values for enterprises by building and developing fishery value chains is becoming a critical requirement towards sustainability.
Thus, in the framework of the "Supporting SMEs to develop cross-sector cooperation clusters in agricultural and rural value chains" project, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) will lead a delegation of enterprises engaged in northern seafood value chains to visit and learn experience and initiate business contacts with partners in seafood value chains in the Mekong Delta and Ho Chi Minh City from November 13 to 19, 2016.
