President Hails Security Cooperation as Pillar in Vietnam-Bulgaria Ties

Posted: Wednesday, November 30, 2016

President Tran Dai Quang underscored security and intelligence cooperation as two important pillars in Vietnam-Bulgaria ties during a reception in Hanoi on November 29 for Chairman of the State Intelligence Agency of Bulgaria Dragomir Dimitrov.

The host spoke highly of recent talks between his guest and Minister of Public Security To Lam, during which both sides discussed specific and practical measures to further boost bilateral security and intelligence ties.

Recalling his Bulgaria visit in June 2015 in his capacity as Minister of Public Security, Quang expressed wish to further deepen traditional friendship and all-around cooperation between the two countries.

Vietnam and Bulgaria need to enhance collaboration in the fields of economy, trade, investment, national defence and anti-crime, he said, adding that both countries should offer mutual support at international forums, especially within the framework of the United Nations.

He also took the occasion to thank the Bulgarian government and people for offering assistance to Vietnamese nationals living in the host country.

Dimitrov, for his part, said the visit by then-Minister Quang has laid a solid foundation for the development of bilateral ties.

He briefed his host on the outcomes of his talks with Minister Lam and affirmed that the long-standing relationship between Vietnam and Bulgaria provides a basis for them to settle any issues that might arise.
