Australian Alumni Strategy Introduced in VietnamPosted: Thursday, December 29, 2016
A strategy aiming to strengthen the connection between the Government of Australia and Australian alumni in Vietnam was recently introduced by the Australian Embassy in Hanoi.
The strategy, scheduled to last from 2016 to 2026, aims to honour the achievements of Australian alumni and develop Australia’s global alumni community, to further strengthen the relationship between Australia and Vietnam as well as foster Australia's connection with other regions and the world.
Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Craig Chittick confirmed that Vietnam is one of the most important countries in the implementation of the Australia Global Alumni Engagement Strategy, initiated in April 2016.
Reportedly, the strategy aims to promote Australia’s capabilities and credentials in education, science, research and innovation; build a network of dynamic leaders and advocates for concerns and views that benefit both sides; support foreign policy, people-to-people diplomacy policy, development cooperation and business and trade initiatives of Australia; and strengthen effective coordination of relevant Australian alumni connection partners in Vietnam.
In this introductory launch, Dr Doan Duy Khuong, Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), was awarded the title “Australian Alumni Ambassador in Vietnam”.
