Tay Yen Tu Spiritual and Ecological Tourism Complex: New Appeal to Tourists

Posted: Wednesday, March 01, 2017

Tay Yen Tu Spiritual and Ecological Tourism Complex, invested by Tay Yen Tu Service Joint Stock Company in Tuan Mau commune, Son Dong district, is a key tourism project in Bac Giang province. The project will turn the area into a spiritual - ecological tourist site of national stature and contribute significantly to local social and economic development.

Tay Yen Tu Spiritual and Ecological Tourism Complex is rooted in the desire to “Explore the Yen Tu region from the life and career of Emperor Tran Nhan Tong” from the development of sustainable tourism based on resources of Tay Yen Tu region. This is also the significance of “Tay Yen Tu Spiritual and Ecological Tourism” in Tay Yen Tu.
Yen Tu Mountain lies on the Dong Trieu mountain range that embraces the northeast region of Vietnam. The eastern side lies mostly in Quang Ninh province and the western side covers Yen Dung, Luc Nam, Luc Ngan and Son Dong districts of Bac Giang province. Yen Tu is a place where Buddhist emperor Tran Nhan Tong practised Buddhism and his relics were kept after his death, while Tay Yen Tu is the way his Buddhism propagated. His monument site is part of a sustainable tourism development strategy aimed to raise the share of tourism in the economic structure, gradually hold an important position in the service field, and create socioeconomic development momentum for the province. Three typical tourism products of the province, namely culture - spirituality, history - culture, and ecology - recreation, will be created from relics and scenic landscapes here. The works here will revive the cultural space and the system of temples, historical monuments and scenic landscapes to shape a well-organised continuous system to introduce more about Bac Giang to people throughout the country. This connecting string conserves, restores and promotes the value of landscape heritages in Tay Yen Tu in Bac Giang province, with Yen Tu scenic landscape (Dong Yen Tu in Quang Ninh) - the cradle of Truc Lam Yen Tu Buddhist Zen School. Restoring the pilgrimage path in the common cultural space will enable visitors to depart from Bac Giang to reach Truc Lam Yen Tu.

Realising this potential, Bac Giang province determined to turn Tay Yen Tu into a major sightseeing destination. Tay Yen Tu Spiritual and Ecological Tourism Complex in Tuan Mau commune, Son Dong district, is a prioritised investment project of Bac Giang province according to Decision 269/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister dated March 2, 2015 on approval of the master plan for Bac Giang socioeconomic development to 2020, with a vision to 2030. With the above policy, Tay Yen Tu Service Joint Stock Company researched and submitted a long-term general investment plan aimed to create a tourism complex harmoniously constituted by spiritual, historical and ecological factors and uphold spiritual and historical sustainability values. The cornerstone of the project is preserving cultural values and maintaining the natural landscape and the environment - the current strengths of Tay Yen Tu region.

The Tay Yen Tu spiritual region of Bac Giang province was designed to lie after the spiritual Yen Tu area of Quang Ninh province to form a unified nature reserve and spiritual region of both provinces, covering a total area of 415 ha. Particularly, the Tay Yen Tu region will have an area of 96.1 ha (excluding the external traffic system and the ecological conservation area). Four areas will be planned around four pagodas (Trinh, Ha, Trung and Thuong pagodas), specifically the gate of Tay Yen Tu, the reception village of Tay Yen Tu, the roof of Tay Yen Tu and the peak of Tay Yen Tu.

Tay Yen Tu Spiritual and Ecological Tourism Complex in Bac Giang province will be quite different from that in Quang Ninh province. Apart from spiritual activities such as worships at pagodas, visitors can participate in religious activities such as fasting, religious therapy, meditation and ecotourism activities such as hiking and relaxing in recreational areas.

Once completed, the project will become a tourist highlight of Bac Giang province and shape a new attractive discovery itinerary with a lot of interesting experiences for domestic and foreign travellers, starting from Bac Giang province - Vinh Nghiem Pagoda - Tay Yen Tu - Dong Yen Tu - Quang Ninh - Ha Long (from the mountain to the sea). This project will employ approximately 550 workers, with priority given to indigenous people.

Above the economic sense, the project is a tremendous pride and responsibility of Tay Yen Tu Service Joint Stock Company, since it carries great spiritual - historical - cultural significance, illustrates the spiritual path of Buddhist emperor Tran Nhan Tong to the highest realm of Buddhism and upholds the diverse value of nature and ecology of Tay Yen Tu Mountain. Completing the project as designed and scheduled will be a challenge for the company and will require a lot of effort.

In addition to business, the company is always very active in social activities like taking care of Vietnamese heroic mothers and people with recognised merits to the national revolution, donating funds for the poor, building houses of gratitude, granting scholarships to students and presenting New Year gifts to the poor. The firm also has a handsome welfare fund for employees.
