IDI Hosts Supply Development Conference 2017Posted: Wednesday, April 19, 2017
International Development and Investment Corporation (IDI), a member of Sao Mai Group, held the Supply Development Conference 2017 at Sao Mai-Dong Thap Industrial Complex on April 7, 2017. The meeting attracted the great attention of local authorities as well as producers in the Mekong Delta.
A report released at the conference showed that the inclusive and strong bond between Sao Mai Group and fish farmers. Although the input market has been quite volatile on low fish prices and increased epidemics, forcing many producers into a dilemma, the group’s partners have still performed well. In addition, the coordination between both sides from tending to harvesting is also very effective. As a result, the scale of cooperation has expanded, with 60 more farming households with 120 ha of water surface joining the supply chain in 2016, harvesting over 46,500 tonnes of fish to meet over 74 per cent of the plant’s input demand.
In order to form a self-contained pangasius production chain in 2015, Sao Mai Group commenced construction of an over VND800-billion fish processing facility with an annual capacity of 360,000 tonnes, furnished by equipment imported from Europe. The nearly completed plant is expected to come into operation in June. Advised by top-notch nutrition specialists, the plant will make new superior foods with a good feed conversion ratio (FCR) and competitive price.
Siding with the connected farmer programme, Ranee Premium cooking oil cooking oil brand-the crystallisation of brainpower of Sao Mai Group’s personnel and the hard labour of Mekong Delta fishermen, financed VND200 per kilogramme of breeding fish for farmers. In 2016, 16 out of 60 households satisfied “productivity and quality” criteria and got qualified for the second round of financing. This is a very meaningful activity that Ranee brand thanks farmers in particular and the catfish industry of Vietnam in general. On this occasion, six well performing households received the certificates of merit from Sao Mai Group for their contributions to building a strong cooperative relationship with the Group and achieving high production efficiency.
The conference showed Sao Mai Group’s keenness on its supply chain and extensive cooperation in the chain towards joint benefits and common prosperity. This is also a good model for others to study and follow.
