FDI Flows in HCM City Soar

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee said that foreign direct investment (FDI) flow into the largest city in Vietnam jumped in the first five months of 2017. Specifically, the city licensed 283 new FDI projects with a combined registered capital of US$341.98 million and approved 81 existing projects to add US$287.05 million to their investment value. In addition, HCM City also approved 775 FDI investors to contribute capital and buy into local companies with a total capital of US$742.2 million.

In total, HCM City drew US$1.37 billion from foreign investors in the first five months, up 45.8 per cent year on year. At present, the city has 6,910 effective FDI projects with US$41.31 billion of investment capital.
