Phone, Tablet Export Rises Billions of US Dollars

According to the latest information of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam’s phone and component exports were estimated to earn US$20.08 billion in the first six months of 2017, up 18.3 per cent year on year. Taking the absolute value into account, computers, electronic devices and components added the most, US$3.1 billion, to US$10.28 billion in the period.

In the first two quarters of 2017, Vietnam's total import and export value was estimated at US$198.25 billion, up 21.5 per cent over the same period of 2016. Of the sum, exports totalled US$97.78 billion, up 18.9 per cent, and imports valued US$100.47 billion, up 24.1 per cent.

Vietnam ran a trade deficit of US$200 million in June, totalling US$2.7 billion in the January - June period, equal to 1.4 per cent of total exports.
