Farm Produce Exports Jump in Seven Months

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said Vietnam' export of agricultural, forest and aquatic products recorded a breakthrough in July 2017, reaching US$3.1 billion, up 16.1 per cent over the same period of 2016. Of the sum, the export value of key agricultural products was estimated at US$1.68 billion, up 25 per cent year on year. Aquatic export continued its impressive growth with US$727 million, up 21.6 per cent.  In total, Vietnam earned US$20.5 billion from exporting agricultural, forest and aquatic products in the first seven months of 2017, representing a year on year growth of 14.7 per cent. Key agricultural products brought home US$10.9 billion, a year on year growth of 18.0 per cent.

Strong growth was seen in many key exports like coffee with US$2.1 billion (up 7.9 per cent), rubber with US$1.1 billion (up 59.2 per cent), cashew nut with US$1.8 billion (up 24.2 per cent), vegetables and fruits with US$2 billion (up 48.9 per cent), and rice with US$1.47 billion (up 13.7 per cent). Some other commodity groups continued to maintain stable export growth. Specifically, seafood earned US$4.3 billion from global markets, up 17.5 percent. Wood and forest products were estimated to bring home at US$4.4 billion, up 10.8 per cent.
