Forbes Vietnam Business Forum 2017 – Embracing a Changing World

Posted: Wednesday, August 23, 2017

After two decades of growth with a lot of ups and downs, Vietnam’s economy has entered a new phrase of development, which seems to be focusing on sustainable goal. The government has significantly cut down on budget spending and public investment, while encouraging and facilitating growth of the private sectors. Better macro economics management has resulted in lower interest rates, stable inflation and foreign exchange rates.  The Vietnamese government aims to define itself as a “Facilitating government.” This is happening as the world is witnessing a strong recovery worldwide, despite political tumoil and setbacks. The World Bank in June forecasts that global economic growth will strengthen to 2.7 percent in 2017 as a pickup in manufacturing and trade, rising market confidence, and stabilizing commodity prices allow growth to resume in commodity-exporting emerging market and developing economies.

Recent political earthquakes around the world are reshaping the way we do business among countries, most recently the turnaround of TPPs and trade relationships between the US, the world’s largest economy, and other markets including Vietnam. Industrial Revolution 4.0 and the rise of new technologies, from data mining to Internet of Things, is disrupting business worldwide.

To address the challenges, discuss opportunities and exchange ideas that could help businesses to make the most of the changes, Forbes Vietnam’s Business Vietnam 2017, under the theme EMBRACING A CHANGING WORLD, will focus on discussions about: Defining the new reality, Prepare leadership for the next generation, Strategies for a changing world.
