Exxonmobil Facilitated to Operate Cooperative Programs, Projects in Vietnam

Posted: Wednesday, August 30, 2017

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc welcomed the U.S. oil and gas group ExxonMobil to launch investment activities in Vietnam, asserting that the Vietnamese Government will facilitate the ExxonMobil to successfully operate cooperative programs and projects in Vietnam.

The PM made that statement at his reception for ExxonMobil Vice President of Asia Pacific and Middle East Jon Gibbs on August 29 in Ha Noi.

Mr Jon Gibbs expressed his hope that the Vietnamese PM and Government will create favorable conditions for its cooperative projects with the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam), bringing benefits for both.

He suggested the Government consider and facilitate cooperative projects to build power plants in Vietnam to shorten the implementation period.

The PM said the Government approved the planning scheme for the Gas Treatment and Power Centre in the central region, including projects in the central provinces of Quang Nam and Quang Ngai, asking to ensure environmental protection and local people’ welfare.

He demanded ExxonMobil continue close coordination with the Electricity of Vietnam and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to guaranty the rate of progress of these projects.

Established in 1859, ExxonMobil is the largest refiner in the world, with 37 oil refineries in 21 countries with a combined daily refining capacity of 6.3 million barrels.

The same day, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc met with former Governor of the Republic of Korea’s Osan city Park Shin Won in HaNoi.
