ACCA Congratulates 18 Global Prizewinners from Latest Exam Sitting

Posted: Tuesday, September 05, 2017

ACCA is celebrating prize-winning candidates worldwide who achieved the highest marks for individual exams within the June 2017 session-based exams. ACCA specially honours Affiliate prize winners who achieve the highest aggregate score of the five professional level exams globally. The top three are awarded the Gold, Silver and Bronze medal respectively.

Celebrating prize-winners’ success, ACCA’s Alan Hatfield, executive director strategy and development said, ‘The prize-winners all achieved outstanding results by getting the highest marks in their exams globally. There were strong results overall recorded worldwide in our latest session, with joint winners in the Business Analysis (P3), Advanced Financial Management (P4) and Advanced Taxation (P6) exams.

‘We’ve also seen a growing number of students taking computer-based exams (CBE) session-based exams, which are designed to reflect the real world skills required by employers. F5 Performance Management winner, Jean-Claude Mustill sat the exam by CBE this session – at the Reading CBE Centre in the UK.’

‘The outstanding achievements of our ACCA students and affiliates in this latest exam session showcase the dedication, commitment and skills present all over the world,’ continues Alan Hatfield. ‘A huge congratulations to all our prize-winners.’

All prize-winners will receive a certificate and a cash prize.

Comments from some of our prize-winners:

Affiliate Gold Prize-winner- Rowena Evans, UK

‘My tuition providers and employer gave me considerable support throughout the two years. I studied with Kaplan and the lecturers were great, they taught the core knowledge in a manner that was easy to absorb, and provided useful exam strategies.

‘The best advice I could give would be to try to understand what the subject is about as opposed to memorising. After all, if you want to be an accountant then the information taught will be required in the future. It will get tough at times and you will want to give up but keep putting in the work and eventually it will pay off.’

P3 Business Analysis Prize-winner – Kayleigh Milne, UK, Scotland

‘I put a lot of pressure on myself and get very stressed out around exam time. I consider myself extremely lucky as my employer, Johnston Carmichael is very supportive of my studying. I receive exam / study leave before my exams which admittedly is absolutely vital to helping me pass my exams as it gives me that time to fully focus my attention on studying and gives me a break from juggling work and study right before the exam.

‘Life can get in the way and it can become easy to fall behind. However if you have a plan and keep up with it, it will allow you to assess the situation on a weekly basis enabling you to stay on track.’

F6 Taxation Prize-winner- Ashish Thakkar, UAE, Dubai

‘The core of passing any ACCA exam is practice. The paper F6 syllabus is vast but reading the textbook is a must. For paper F6, it is necessary to prepare hand written notes in one’s own words as it will be helpful for a quick revision before the exams. Past exam papers are also essential to understand and acquaint oneself with ACCA exam.

‘Accountancy is a great career to be in, but it requires hard work, interest, and passion.’
