South Korea’s Hanwha Techwin Thursday started construction of a factory in Hanoi to produce components for aircraft engines, the Vietnamese government said.

The Hanwha Aero Engines plant, covering 97,000 square meters at Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park, has total investment of $200 million, which is expandable to $260 million in the future, the government said.

The first part of the plant is scheduled to be operational by the end of April 2018, and the whole plant by 2022. It will provide 1,000 jobs.

The government said Hanwha Techwin has recently won large orders for components from three of the world’s leading aircraft engine manufacturers, including General Electric, Pratt & Whitney and Rolls-Royce.
