Five Banks Chosen to Pilot 24/7 Electronic Tax Payment Scheme

Posted: Friday, September 22, 2017

Five commercial banks have been selected to pilot a 24/7 electronic tax payment scheme from November 2017 by the General Department of Vietnam Customs, said Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, Deputy Director of the Estimation and Budget Management Division under the Import-Export Duty Bureau, the General Department of Vietnam Customs. The banks include Vietcombank, Vietinbank, BIDV, MB and Techcombank.

This move aims to support companies to pay taxes online. They will pay taxes directly at the 24/7 Electronic Customs Payment Portal anytime and anywhere with internet access. The customs authority will directly support enterprises to make payment documents from the original data and minimise errors in money transfer procedures.

Currently, to pilot the 24/7 electronic tax payment scheme, the five banks signed some more cooperation agreements with the General Department. They also agreed with the General Department to standardise message exchanges. Reportedly, the 24/7 tax payment scheme will be applied to only commercial banks signing collection agreements with the General Department. Up to now, 36 commercial banks have signed budget collection cooperation agreements with the General Department, exchanged payment information via electronic environment. Taxpayers need to open accounts at commercial banks.
