Entrepreneurs Honoured for Contribution to National Development

Posted: Tuesday, October 10, 2017

Recently, the Hai Phong Branch of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI Hai Phong) hosted a ceremony to celebrate the Vietnam Entrepreneurs Day - October 13 and honour outstanding businesspeople in the northern coastal region in 2017.

Attending the ceremony were Madam Saranya Hasanthi Urugodawatte Dissanayake - Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Vietnam; Mr Samina Naz - Ambassador of Bangladesh to Vietnam; Dr Vu Tien Loc - President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI); representatives of the Vietnam Women's Union; municipal/ provincial authorities of Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Hung Yen and Thai Binh and more than 700 businesspeople.

Companion to the strong growth of the country’s business community, northern coastal entrepreneurs have been working hard to develop rapidly. In 2016, the northern coastal region had 6,659 newly established enterprises with a registered capital of VND49,714 billion, a year-on-year increase of 14.6 per cent in number and 46 per cent in value.

Despite many challenges to their business operations in the past years, the northern coastal business community and the entrepreneur force have endeavoured to seek new ways to develop, learn experience from others, constantly improve their competitiveness, and ensure stable employment and incomes for their employees. Many have managed to expand their foreign markets and affirmed Vietnamese brands in the international market.

Appreciating their contributions to national development, VCCI President Vu Tien Loc expressed his sincere thanks to northern coastal businesses and entrepreneurs.

“Entrepreneurs have been presented ‘roses’ today but they do not just need ‘roses’ but ‘bread’ as well which is practical actions of all-tier governments for them. How to maximally simplify administrative procedures for entrepreneurs, how to make their business costs cheapest and how to make the business environment safest are the very ‘bread’ for them. They need ‘bread’ no less than ‘roses”,” he said.

Addressing the honouring ceremony, Mr Phi Van Duc, Director of VCCI Hai Phong Branch, said that the branch will actively work with local authorities to realise the policy of building an enabling and acting government of integrity to serve and support enterprises, helping them enhance national competitiveness, develop and integrate successfully.

At the ceremony, 26 prominent businesspeople in the northern coastal region were honoured and awarded certificates of merit by VCCI.
