Fostering International Cooperation for Tourism Development

Continuing the Vietnamese tourism promotion chain in Italy, in the afternoon of October 3, the Vietnamese tourism delegation led by Ms Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, Deputy General Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), hosted a Vietnamese tourism introduction programme in Rome - the capital of Italy, a famous cultural and political centre in Europe. Attendants to the programme included Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Cao Chinh Thien, representatives from the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, and some 70 tourism companies, media agencies and tourism bloggers.

Speaking at the programme, Deputy General Director Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong said, endowed with abundant natural resources, long stretches of magnificent beaches and diverse ecosystems, Vietnam is also a destination of fresh and exciting experiences with unique and distinctive cultural values, many of which have been recognised as world cultural heritages by UNESCO. Many places have been ranked high by world-leading media corporations like CNN and BBC or top-notch destination reviewers like TripAdvisor and Telegraph.

She affirmed that the friendly and hospitable country of Vietnam always welcomes Italian tourists. The appeal of natural resources, the richness and diversity of humanity resources, the elegance and class of accommodation facilities and resorts will meet diverse needs of Italian tourists.

She stressed that Vietnam and Italy have established diplomatic relations for 44 years with strong development of cultural exchanges and people-to-people exchanges. In 2018, on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of Vietnam - Italy diplomatic ties, the two sides will hold various programmes to promote tourism cooperation of the two countries.

At the programme, the Tourism Market Department (VNAT) introduced tourism potential and policies as well as tourism services and products of Vietnam to the participants.

The programme caught the attention and participation of Italian journalists and businesspeople seeking to explore and exchange information. Italian travel companies which attended Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo (ITE HCMC) in September were also present at the programme and exchanged on what they had during their Vietnam business trip. Deputy General Director Huong also spent a lot of time answering questions from Italian reporters.

The programme also hosted lucky draws to award Vietnamese tourism products to winners and enjoy traditional arts performances of Vietnam.

On the same day, VNAT Deputy General Director Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong had a working visit to the Italian Ministry of Heritage, Culture and Tourism. Deputy Minister of Heritage, Culture and Tourism Dorina Dianchi received the Vietnamese delegation.

The two sides exchanged information on tourism cooperation policies and plans, considered signing again the amended Tourism Cooperation Agreement on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of Vietnam - Italy diplomatic relations. Both sides discussed ways to organise their FAM enterprises; continue to support Vietnam to introduce tourism in Italy; enhance cooperation in Italian language training; support Vietnam to translate museum materials into Italian, boost aviation cooperation, and facilitate business exchange and cooperation.

The Vietnamese delegation will leave Italy for Valencia, Spain to introduce Vietnamese tourism to Spaniards.
