ACCA Highlights Ethical Dilemmas and Challenges

Posted: Friday, November 24, 2017

ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is marking the importance of ethics and professionalism in Vietnam CFO Forum 2017. The Forum happened today, 22 November 2017, in Ho Chi Minh city to highlight ethical dilemmas and challenges in the workplace, digital transformation, talent management and the role finance leaders must play.

From China to Singapore to the UK, in the coming months ACCA will be placing ethics and trust centre stage, with the aim of getting a debate going about the challenges ahead.

These events and activities are organised to launch ACCA’s new Ethics and Professional Skills module that have been live from 31 October 2017, replacing the Professional Ethics module which was available until 30 October 2017.

Ms. Chau Nguyen, Head of Mekong, ACCA says: ‘The Vietnam CFO Forum 2017 brings together a community of like-minded professionals to discuss and address ethical issues and challenges in the finance industry. The forum advocates ethics and how professional accountants are custodians of trust in an increasingly digital age.’

Other ACCA markets will be weaving the theme of ethics and trust into their forthcoming events.

Mr. Chun Wee Chiew, Head of Policy, Asia Pacific, ACCA shared in this Forum’s morning session: ‘We’ve already held important conversations about ethics and trust, with the recent publication of our global research report Ethics and Trust in a Digital Age. This report raised important questions about how prepared businesses and their professional accountants are to face new ethical challenges such as ransomware attacks; crypto-currency transactions; intellectual property disputes and customer privacy.’

‘For professional accountants, training and development clearly has a role here. ACCA was the first to introduce a compulsory ethics module in 2007 and our new module will ensure all members have the broader skills necessary for shaping the future of business. The module’s an essential part of the ACCA Qualification which develops the next generation with the vital professional skills needed by employers while retaining a focus on ethics.’
