Prime Minister Assigns Socioeconomic Tasks for 2018 to Five Ministries

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc recently signed a decision to allocate socioeconomic targets in 2018 to five ministries: The Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

Accordingly, the Prime Minister delegated the Ministry of Planning and Investment with the following targets: Gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 6.7 per cent, consumer price index (CPI) growth of 4 per cent, Total social development investment capital to GDP at 33 - 34 per cent, the ratio of industrial and export processing zones installed with standard wastewater treatment systems at 88 per cent.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is assigned with the target of forest coverage of 41.6 per cent in 2018.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade was designated to ensure trade growth of 8 - 10 per cent, and trade deficit to exports at less than 3 per cent.

The Ministry of Health was assigned the targets: The ratio of sickbeds to 10,000 inhabitants (excluding commune-level medical facilities) at 26 and insured people at 88.5 per cent of population.

The targets assigned to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs included reducing multidimensional poverty rate by 1 - 1.5 per cent, bringing unemployment rate in cities to 4 per cent; and raising the ratio of trained workers to 58 - 60 per cent.
