Posted: Monday, March 12, 2018

Quality education; good health and well-being; gender equality; no poverty; zero hunger; and peace, justice and strong institutions are the top global goals that Vietnamese youth feel closer and ready to act for, according to the first-ever Youth Survey on the Sustainable Development Goals.

Vietnam has committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, together with 192 member states of the United Nations (UN). With 27.7 per cent of the population aged between 16 and 30, Vietnamese young people play a central role in the country’s development and accelerating the achievement of the SDGs.

More than 7,000 young people from all 63 provinces responded to the survey (organised by the United Nations Development Programme together with the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam and the Centre for Sustainable Development Studies (CSDS), nearly 75 per cent of them are female and more than 65 percent of them live in urban areas. But, three in four respondents said they had not heard about the SDGs before.
