Plentiful Cooperation Opportunities with Wielkopolskie, Poland

Posted: Monday, May 21, 2018

Mr Doan Duy Khuong, Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), received a business delegation of Wielkopolskie Province, Poland, led by Mr Marek Wozniak, Marshal of the legislative council of Wielkopolskie Province. The two sides confirmed expectations on cooperation in pharmaceuticals, agriculture and tourism.

Dr Doan Duy Khuong said, “Vietnam is now a member of the WTO, ASEAN, and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). The country also entered into many bilateral free trade agreements with major economies like the United States, Japan and Korea. Thus, when working with Vietnamese partners, Polish businesses can take advantage of incentives to approach regional and global markets.”

He said, the Visegrád Group, an alliance of four Central European states - the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, has launched initial activities in Ho Chi Minh City. These will combine favourable conditions for Vietnamese and Polish companies to promote investment and trade for further mutual development.

With cultural similarities and long-standing cooperation ties between the two nations, VCCI will support Wielkopolskie businesses to introduce information and connect with Vietnamese companies in the spirit of promoting bilateral cooperation in the future, VCCI Vice President affirmed.

Mr Marek Wozniak said that this is the first time a Wielkopolskie delegation has come to Vietnam. Wielkopolskie is one of the fastest-growing provinces in Poland, recording a 6 per cent GDP growth annually, and a popular destination for famous exhibitions and trade fairs in Poland. Currently, the province has about 420,000 companies investing and doing business across the world and having high levels of science and technology.

He expects to see concrete cooperation results, especially in agriculture and pharmaceuticals, as these are strengths of Polish firms.
