Posted: Monday, May 21, 2018

Mr Choi Bong Sik, Chairman of World OKTA Hanoi, recently met and worked with President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Vu Tien Loc.

World OKTA (World Federation of Overseas Korean Traders Association) was established in 1981 to support the Korean economy in general and its overseas traders in particular. The association functions as an economic ambassador to promote Korean products and culture in other countries around the world. After 35 years of operation with 135 branches in 68 countries, World OKTA has made a significant contribution to South Korea’s economic growth and played an important role in promoting economic and trade relations between South Korea and countries where World OKTA is present.

Mr Choi Bong Sik, former Chairman of the Korean Association in Vietnam (7th and 8th terms), was appointed Chairman of World OKTA in Hanoi since January 2012. He also held several important positions and had valuable contributions to Vietnam - Korea economic and trade relations.

He expressed that World OKTA and VCCI will establish a cooperation relationship to assist companies of the two countries engaged in trade, investment, technology transfer and other fields of mutual interest.

VCCI President Vu Tien Loc said, the cooperation with OKTA is a good opportunity to further introduce Vietnamese goods to other countries through cooperation with overseas South Korean companies.

He added that Korea has a powerful economy and is a major investor in Vietnam. Korean businesses are also important partners with close cooperation with VCCI.

On this occasion, World OKTA Hanoi and VCCI signed a memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation.

Dr Loc said, VCCI and OKTA can build strategic partnerships. Starting with trade cooperation, the two sides will then expand into other fields such as technology exchange, among others. Following this cooperation signing, he hoped the cooperation with overseas Korean businesses will bring a new breeze of vitality and enrich the fine partnership between the two countries.
