Posted: Monday, May 21, 2018

The World Bank (WB) and the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam jointly hosted a workshop to launch the “Transport and Logistics Statistics” Project, highlighting the importance of increasing transport and logistics capacity to enhance Vietnam’s competitiveness.

The project aims to develop a national system to collect, process and publish transport and logistics statistics. This is part of the World Bank's support for logistics development and facilitation programme endorsed by the Government of Vietnam.

The workshop also shared practices and elements of an effective logistics statistics system, and discussed the importance of reliable transport and logistics data in Vietnam. Data will be used for strategic planning, policy making and execution monitoring of transport infrastructure, trade and logistics development policies and will help logistics companies access reliable database for their business development. The Agreement on Trust Fund for Statistical Capacity Building (TFSCB) was also signed on this occasion.
