New Procedures Yet to Be Added to Single-window Mechanism

Posted: Monday, May 21, 2018

As many as 25 procedures had been planned to be added to the National Single Window (NSW) in the first quarter of 2018, but so far none have been connected to the NSW.

According to the latest report by the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the standing body for the National Steering Committee for ASEAN Single Window, National Single Window and Trade Facilitation, 11 ministries and agencies connected 47 administrative procedures to the NSW (excluding customs procedures of the Ministry of Industry and Trade) as of the end of April.

A total of nearly 1.13 million administrative records submitted by 20,800 companies were settled by ministries and agencies on the NSW. Over 230,580 records filed by about 2,500 businesses were handled from January 1 to April 15, 2018.

Remarkably, just 47 administrative procedures are available on the NSW. Many ministries and agencies pledged to add 25 more in the first quarter of 2018, but none was added.

The concluding remark of Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue, Head of the Steering Board of the National Steering Committee for ASEAN Single Window, National Single Window and Trade Facilitation at the third meeting of the Committee (Notice 50/TB-VPCP), was that 25 more procedures will be added to the NSW by the end of the first quarter of 2018, accounting for 19 per cent of total 130 administrative procedures registered by ministries and agencies in 2017. To achieve this target of connecting administrative procedures at the NSW, the work of ministries and agencies concerned will be very heavy.
