Automated Customs Management System to Go Nationwide

Posted: Monday, May 21, 2018

In 2018, the customs sector will deploy the automatic customs management system across the country, especially at important import-export hubs like seaports, international airports and inland ports.

The General Department of Vietnam Customs is actively working with local customs agencies and its affiliated units to prepare conditions for the expansion of this modern customs management system.

“After a circular on amendment and supplement to Circular 38/2015/TT-BTC is issued and becomes effective, which includes regulations on application of the automated customs management system, the deployment will be quick and resolute nationwide, to facilitate export and import and enhance State customs management.”

Currently, the automated customs management system has been deployed in four local customs departments, including Hai Phong, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

The Hai Phong Customs Department is the first in the industry to apply the system city-wide, which is called Vietnam Automated System for Seaport Customs Management (VASSCM).

According to latest information from the Department of Customs Information and Statistics, after over four months of deployment in Hai Phong City from August 15, 2017 to early 2018, VASSCM managed and supervised over 1.7 million containers carrying imported and exported goods, of which 906,657 containers arrived and 838,341 containers departed. Cargo parcels, bulk cargo and liquid cargo are also managed and monitored by the system.

The automated customs management system was deployed in three warehouse depots in Hanoi, with businesses in Ho Chi Minh City and two companies in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
