Deputy PM and FM Pham Binh Minh is on an official visit to Bulgaria from July 3-5 at the invitation of Bulgarian Deputy PM and FM Ekaterina Zaharieva.

Deputy PM and FM Pham Binh Minh pays courtesy calls on President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev.

On July 3, Politburo member Minh paid a courtesy visit to Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, met with Deputy PM Tomislav Donchev, visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Bulgaria, and met with the Vietnamese community in the European nation.

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev spoke highly of Viet Nam’s economic achievements, stating that the two countries always coordinate with each other in the international and regional issues. He also affirmed Bulgaria’s support for the prompt signing and ratification of the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

For his part, Deputy PM Minh extended congratulations on the significant achievements Bulgaria has attained in socio-economic development and international integration over the past few years.

The two sides agreed to further enhance the multifaceted cooperation between Viet Nam and Bulgaria, on the basis of the traditional friendship and political trust between the two countries.

On the occasion, the Vietnamese official conveyed President Tran Dai Quang’s invitation to visit Viet Nam to Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, who accepted it with pleasure.

Meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart Tomislav Donchev, Deputy PM Minh expressed his delight to visit Bulgaria for the first time, as the country has successfully fulfilled its rotating presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2018.

Both sides showed their satisfaction with the finely growing friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries over recent times, manifested through the enhanced political relations via the exchange of all-level delegations and the maintenance of mutual support and coordination at multilateral forums, such as the United Nations and the Asia-Europe Meeting.

Later the same day, Deputy PM Minh visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Bulgaria, where he talked with diplomatic officials and representatives of the Vietnamese community in the native country.

On the occasion, the Deputy PM presented a prize of the 2017 External Information Service Awards to Bulgarian correspondent, Katrinka Katrinova, who has produced many articles about Viet Nam and the Viet Nam APEC Year in 2017.
