Fruits & Vegetables Exports Up 17.1 Pct in Nine Months

Viet Nam gained US$380 million from exporting fruits and vegetables in September, bringing the total export value over the recent nine months to US$3.1 billion, a year-on-year increase of 17.1 per cent.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, China took the lead in importing Viet Nam’s fruits and vegetables, accounting for 74.1 per cent in the first eight months of 2018.

Viet Nam earned US$2 billion from exporting fruits and vegetables to China in eight months, up 11.6 per cent.

Other markets witnessed high growths such as Thailand (up 37.9 per cent), Australia (up 36 per cent), the U.S. (up 26.3 per cent) and the Republic of Korea (up 21.4 per cent).

Viet Nam’s imports of fruits and vegetables reached US$156 million, raising the total import value in nine months to US$1.3 billion, up 12.7 per cent.

The import value of fruits and vegetables attained US$33 million and US$911 million, up 35.9 per cent and 0.8 per cent, respectively.

Viet Nam mainly imported fruits and vegetables from Thailand (making up 45 per cent) and China (accounting for 21.9 per cent) over the recent eight months of 2018.
