Vietnam-Romania: Meaningful Opportunities to Cooperate in Various Industries

Posted: Friday, October 19, 2018

Vietnam and Romania established diplomatic relations in 1950. Since then the relations have developed into a multi-faceted cooperative relationship in various industries like electro-technical, hydrocarbons, IT&C and others. A Romanian business delegation led by Mr Stefan Radu Oprea, Minister of Business Environment, Trade and Entrepreneurship, will pay a working visit to Vietnam on October 20-27, 2018. On this occasion, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in collaboration with the Romanian Embassy will host a Vietnam-Romania business matching on October 22. Ahead of this event, Mr Stefan Radu Oprea grants Vietnam Business Forum an exclusive interview in regard to the business cooperation between the two countries. Lan Anh reports.

Would you please tell us the purpose of the working visit by the Romanian delegation to Vietnam this time?

Our economies have a lot of potentially fruitful complementarities and we would like to discuss with our Vietnamese counterpart the best ways to fulfil them. We are looking forward to engaging in a profound and pragmatic dialogue with Vietnamese decision makers and businesspeople in order to identify new cooperation projects of interest for both sides.

What would you think about the cooperation potential in trade and investment between Vietnamese and Romanian companies? Which industries hold potential for stronger bilateral cooperation in the coming time?
There is a lot of unused potential, both in terms of trade, as well as investments. Our countries have extensive expertise in many fields of activity, and we can find meaningful opportunities to cooperate in various industries, such as electro-technical, hydrocarbons, IT&C and others.

What do you think the governments and businesses of the both sides should do to further boost bilateral cooperation? What will the Romanian side do to facilitate Vietnamese businesses in this bilateral business cooperation?
Our role as policymakers is to create the best possible environment for business to thrive. We should also act as facilitators of international relations between our companies, as well as promoters of business opportunities. We are open to ideas and initiatives from both sides and we guarantee fair and equal treatment to all Vietnamese businesspeople willing to engage in partnerships with Romanian partners.

Thank you very much!
