Vietnam’s first oil refinery Dung Quat will operate at its full capacity on October 25, state media reported, citing a high-level official.

Truong Van Tuyen, deputy general director of the state-owned Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) cum head of the plant’s management board made the announcement recently.

Since its resumed operation Oct 1, the US$3.054-billion refinery produced additional 15,000 cubic meters of gasoline A95, 6,000 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and 10,000 tons of diesel, Tuyen attributed.

The plant is operating at 65% of its designed capacity, he added.

PetroVietnam hopes the Dung Quat plant will produce a total of 2.02 million tons of petroleum products by end-2009, which is lower than its earlier target of 2.6 million tons. (Vovnews)
