Photography Contest on Southeast Asia Peatlands Opens
Under the auspices of the ASEAN Peatland Forest Project (APFP), SEApeat Project, Canon Malaysia Company and Malaysian Natural Photography Club, the Global Environment Centre (GEC) has just launched a photography contest to promote permanent management of the peatlands in Southeast Asia.
Themed “Our precious peat lands”, the contest aims to honour natural beauty, specialties and important roles of peatlands and their biodiversity as well as interactions of the nature with resident community and surrounding areas through the lens of photographers.
The winner will receive US$1,000 in cash and one Canon EOS60D camera. Second and third prize winners will be given US$500 in cash plus one EOS600D camera and US$250 plus one EOS1100D camera, respectively. Besides, organizers will offer 10 consolation prizes to outstanding works. The award is IXUS 240HS cameras. Winning photos will be used to call upon people to protect the environment.
