Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc approved a project to strengthen management and prevention of trade remedies evasion and origin fraud on July 4, 2019.
The plan aims to improve the performance of international economic integration process, especially the entry to new-generation free trade agreements, ensure the serious and effective enforcement of commitments under the World Trade Organization (WTO) and FTAs to which Vietnam is signatory. The plan aims to prevent acts of evading trade remedy measures, especially origin fraudulence in a comprehensive, consistent and timely manner; help effectively utilize international commitments and sustainable export and import; protect Vietnam's rights and interests in international trade; and defend interests of true manufacturers and traders.
Major solutions include strengthening State management over export, import and foreign investment; raising awareness and effectiveness of implementing legal provisions on trade, origin, customs protection, trade remedy avoidance; reviewing, developing, amending and supplementing legal documents to prevent and avoid trade remedy measures and trade frauds; preventing and strictly handling acts of avoiding trade defense measures and origin fraudulence.
