The United States Department of Commerce (DOC) recently released an internal announcement on the 15th period of review (POR15) on antidumping duty on Vietnamese pangasius exported to the U.S. from August 1, 2017 through July 31, 2018. This result is considered quite positive for Vietnamese exporters.
The DOC determined that Vietnamese mandatory respondent and separate respondent were both subject to rates of US$0.00 per kg while a Vietnam-wide entity anti-dumping rate of US$2.39 per kg was applied to all other Vietnamese exporters. This rate was much lower than the final POR14 with a tariff rate of US$1.37-2.39 per kg.
The DOC will issue the final POR15 within 120 days of publication of its preliminary rates and this is likely to happen around February 2020. The Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has advised Vietnamese exporters to continue cooperating with the DOC and MOIT to ensure positive final results.
Vietnamese pangasius has been subject to the U.S. antidumping duty since 2003 and is applied to the review of applicable tariffs every year.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam will continue to coordinate with concerned agencies, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) and exporters to take necessary actions to protect their legitimate rights and interests.
