Recently, Diageo Vietnam Limited (DVL) delivered 30 units of Oxygen Concentrator to the Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front at various districts in HCMC. This is part of Diageo’s emergency relief package of medical devices for Covid-19 prevention in Vietnam.

The medical devices include 50 units of Oxygen concentrators and 8,000 Oximeters with the total value of approximately 3 billion VND, which have been allocated to help Covid-19 patients in HCMC, Ha Noi and Ninh Thuan province.

Diageo’s donation for emergency relief took place in the context that Vietnam has been experiencing the most complicated 4th wave of Covid-19 outbreak caused by fast infection spreading of the Delta variant. Particularly the high-surging number of severe cases over the last few months in Ho Chi Minh city – the country epic-center, has put the local health care system in challenges of overloading capacity. The Government has prioritized all resources across the nation for emergency relief to HCMC in order to strengthen the capacity of the local health care system to treat Covid-19 patients and ensure safety for the communities.

In response to urgent need of the communities for medical devices for Covid-19 patient treatment, within the past 2 weeks, thanks to swift support of the Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front,  the Ministry of Health, British Embassy & other related agencies, Diageo Vietnam has been able to bring this equipment to Vietnam and deliver them to  those medical centres in need.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Thi, General Manager of Diageo Vietnam, said: “As a British business operating in Vietnam, we are proud to join-hands and support the local communities in every possible way to protect their well-being and safety, especially during this tough time of the pandemic. As part of our Covid Readiness Plan to ensure safety for our own people, I am very pleased that Diageo could extend our support to the communities in Vietnam by donating these medical devices to meet the increasing demand for treatment of Covid-19 patients. We strongly believe in the determination and consensus of the Vietnam’s Government, its people, and businesses to overcome this challenging epidemic."

Mr Vo Van Thien, Head of Southern Office of the Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front (CCVFF) in HCMC shared: "Diageo’s donation is a meaningful humane work, it helps to spread the call of the CCVFF to the people, organizations and individuals for the mutual effort to fight against the epidemic. We highly appreciate the timely support of Diageo in this challenging period. We are coordinating with the Ministry of Health and local authorities to bring these medical devices to the places in need the most, to support treatment and save patients' lives, helping to prevent Covid-19 outbreak and protect the communities.”
