Ho Chi Minh City and the central province of Binh Dinh have been added to the list of localities allowed to re-welcome international tourists on a pilot basis, the Government said Tuesday.
Other localities joining the pilot program include Kien Giang in the South, Quang Nam, Da Nang, and Khanh Hoa in the Central region, and Quang Ninh in the North.
The pilot policy was introduced from November, only applicable to the above five localities where the COVID-19 pandemic had been put under control, and divided into three phases.
As of late 2021, Viet Nam received around 3,500 foreign visitors with vaccine passports since the introduction of this policy.
Viet Nam expects to receive five million foreign visitors in 2022, according to General Director of the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh.
In January 2022, the country targets to receive foreign guests from the Republic of Korea, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Thailand, and India.
International visitors are required to take PCR tests within 72 hours before entering Viet Nam and own vaccine passport or certificate of recovery from COVID-19.
