ABAC 3: Engaging Collectively, Embracing Opportunities in Reconnected World

On the morning of July 27, the third meeting of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) opened. President Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended and addressed the meeting.

Delivering a keynote speech at the meeting, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, emphasized, “The world and the APEC region are facing unpredictable fluctuations of the pandemic, political headwinds, supply chain disruptions, and financial market turmoil. All these difficulties are testing the bravery and cooperation of APEC member economies, in which we pay special attention to business resilience".

“I look forward to ABAC 3 to come up with many new, effective, and practical recommendations, initiatives and solutions. That is to increase trade and investment in APEC, fix broken supply chains, connect human resources, and support businesses to recover by promoting the digital economy with green technologies and green energy; enhancing cooperation in the development of clean energy, and renewable energy, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the region. Vietnam and other APEC economies always appreciate and support the initiatives and recommendations of the APEC community to report to the dialogue between ABAC and APEC leaders," said President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

This year, ABAC adopted the theme “Embrace. Engage. Enable.” The event was designed to embrace the reconnected world with endless opportunities; enable in collaborating on new ideas, creativities, and possibilities; engage digitized, sustainable, and inclusive new transformational models.

The third meeting is an important event for ABAC to develop a report on business recommendations which will be conveyed to APEC governments through a range of avenues including to APEC Senior Officials, Trade SME, and Finance Ministers and directly to APEC Economic Leaders at the annual Dialogue with APEC Leaders.

VCCI President, ABAC Vietnam Chair Pham Tan Cong said the hosting of the Third ABAC Meeting will help promote Vietnam's priorities in realizing its goals of economic recovery and sustainable growth and will be a chance for Vietnam to introduce itself as a favored international investment destination with secure, open and attractive investment policies. At the same time, this event will also help enhance Vietnam's position in ABAC in particular and APEC in general.

Mr. Pham Tan Cong affirmed that the Third ABAC Meeting is of great significance to the business community in the region. The topics are of special interest to the regional business community, involved in economic recovery and growth, regionally and globally.
