Kim Thanh Border Gate (Lao Cai) Goes Digital from August 21

Lao Cai province has implemented the Digital Border Gate Platform to handle administrative procedures for organizations and individuals carrying out importing and exporting activities through the Kim Thanh International Border Gate since August 21, according to the Lao Cai Economic Zones Authority. Organizations and individuals can make declarations on the website, https://cuakhauso.laocai.gov.vn, to have their immigration, import and export procedures settled. The authority of industrial zones provided free training for officers and employees of customs clearance agents, businesses and individuals carrying out immigration, import and export procedures at Kim Thanh Border Gate from August 14 - 18, 2023. Lao Cai is the second province in the country to apply the digital border gate platform (after Lang Son). According to the Lao Cai Customs Department, the total merchandise import and export value it served reached US$776 million in the first seven months of 2023, down 17% YoY or down US$149 million. Key exports included yellow phosphorus, timber, tapioca starch and confectionery while major imports were fertilizers, coke, clothing and confectionery.
