Representatives from four provincial/municipal customs departments (Lao Cai, Dien Bien, Ha Giang and Hai Phong) hosted the 14th talks with Kunming Customs of China in Quang Ninh province from September 7 to 10, 2023.

The meeting was suspended from 2019 to 2022 after the 13th gathering due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, the friendly cooperative relationship between four Vietnamese customs departments and Kunming Customs has continuously developed and positively contributed to the cross-border trade growth between the two regions and two countries. At this meeting, the two sides discussed and evaluated the situations and results of implementing the minutes of the 13th Talks held in Kunming (China, June 2019) to date. The two sides also updated each other on customs modernization, digital customs and smart customs development and anti-smuggling. At the same time, they discussed and proposed cooperation content in the coming time, especially strengthening cooperation in anti-smuggling, facilitating trade, protecting intellectual property rights, and enhancing the efficiency of border gate management, training customs officers in measures to strengthen cooperation at border gates.

Within the framework of the talks, the delegates exchanged experiences with Hon Gai Port Customs Office (Quang Ninh Customs Department) to further reinforce the friendly cooperative customs relations of the two countries.

The continuation of regular customs talks will promote cooperation and mutual support, thus helping further strengthen the friendly cooperative relationship between Vietnam Customs and China Customs.
