Standard Chartered Vietnam CEO Honoured for Longstanding Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion in Business

Standard Chartered Bank Vietnam’s CEO Michele Wee has been promoted to prestigious INvolve’s Hall of Fame, recognising her incredible work championing women’s inclusion which was featured in the top 10 of Heroes Role Model Lists in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

INvolve is a consultancy and global network that enables leaders and change makers to build more successful and empowering organizations where everyone can thrive. INvolve’s Hall of Fame features executives who have appeared in the top ten senior Role Model lists for three consecutive years, supported by YouTube, honouring their longstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion in business.

Michele Wee is passionate about empowering female leaders, female-led start-ups, women in tech, and ethnic minority women, to unleash their full potential. She serves as the senior sponsor of Standard Chartered’s Global Coaching Program – IGNITE that targets mid-level female leaders to propel them to the next stage of their careers. The program has successfully coached 1,165 senior females (35.8% of the total female population) across 45 countries. She also chairs Standard Chartered Vietnam’s people agenda, where she has advanced initiatives in D&I, Wellness, CSR and New Ways of Working throughout the organisation. For the wider Vietnamese community, Michele also drives women’s empowerment through various local partners, NGO’s and the Chambers of Commerce to further contribute to equality across the region. Under her leadership, the Bank signed Minutes of Cooperation in gender equity between the State Bank of Việt Nam. The co-operation will include the organisation of annual conferences that offer global perspectives on women leadership and skills upgrading for women; implementation of social responsible programmes to support disadvantaged women; and sharing of Diversity and Inclusion best practices and experiences. Michele also participates actively with International Finance Corporation (IFC), The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) and USAID in a senior female climate leaders network, a powerful gathering of minds committed to gender responsive climate action.
