On the morning of October 17, in Hanoi, the 5th Vietnam International Exhibition on Supporting Industries and Manufacturing - VIMEXPO 2024 officially opened. The event is directed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, led by the Industrial Development Support Center (IDC), in coordination with CIS Vietnam Advertising and Exhibition Fair Company.

The VIMEXPO exhibition is part of the Supporting Industry Development Program and serves as a concrete implementation of Government Resolution No. 115/NQ-CP. Its goal is to create a favorable environment for enterprises in the supporting industries and manufacturing sectors to showcase products, exchange technology, seek partnerships, form joint ventures, and attract investment. With the theme "Connecting for Development," VIMEXPO has been held four times and has garnered significant interest and support from domestic and international companies in the supporting and manufacturing industries. VIMEXPO 2024 spans 5,000 square meters with 200 booths, featuring the participation of 183 companies, including Thaco Group, Toyota Vietnam, Vietnam Engine and Agricultural Machinery Corporation (VEAM), V-Proud, Smart Vietnam, Intech, and companies from Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan (China), and other countries and regions.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, Pham Tuan Anh, Deputy Director of the Industrial Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), emphasized that supporting industries and manufacturing are crucial pillars, playing an essential role in the country's industrialization and modernization process. These sectors help strengthen production capacity, enhance competitiveness, and assert Vietnam’s position in the global value chain.

Mr.Pham Tuan Anh, Deputy Director of the Industrial Department speech at the opening ceremony

In recent years, with the continuous advancement of science and technology, along with the support and incentives from the Party and the State, as well as close cooperation between domestic and international businesses and stakeholders, Vietnam’s supporting industries and manufacturing have made significant progress, contributing substantially to the nation's economic growth.

Pham Tuan Anh emphasized that, in fulfilling the tasks assigned by the Government under the National Supporting Industry Development Program, since 2020, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has taken the lead in organizing the annual Vietnam International Exhibition on Supporting Industries and Manufacturing - VIMEXPO. This event serves as a gathering point for domestic and international supporting industries and manufacturing enterprises to promote business, connect trade, and build strategic and sustainable partnerships within the value chain.

Over the past four years, VIMEXPO has attracted around 600 companies with more than 800 booths representing the mechanical, automotive, electronics, high-tech, textile, and footwear sectors. The exhibition has also hosted over 10 specialized seminars and facilitated more than 1,500 business connections, attracting over 30,000 visitors.

In 2024, the 5th VIMEXPO will bring together more than 200 companies, including leading domestic and international corporations, showcasing the most advanced products and technologies. It will serve as an "ideal meeting place" for businesses to exchange experiences, access new technologies, improve production processes, enhance quality, and develop value chains both locally and internationally.

VIMEXPO 2024 continues its mission of “Connecting for Development,” reaffirming its role as a platform and environment that serves as a bridge for domestic and international enterprises in the supporting industries and manufacturing sectors. It offers them the opportunity to exchange advanced technologies, connect with partners, expand markets, increase investment in production, enhance competitiveness, and gradually participate in the global supply chain.

Attending the exhibition, Pham Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of the Vietnam Engine and Agricultural Machinery Corporation - JSC (VEAM), acknowledged that after four successful editions, the Vietnam International Exhibition on Supporting Industries & Manufacturing - VIMEXPO has become a flagship event in Vietnam’s supporting industry sector. It is also an excellent opportunity for both domestic and international enterprises to promote products, exchange experiences, form joint ventures, and enhance brand value.

The exhibition also serves as an effective bridge, helping businesses in Vietnam's supporting and manufacturing industries gradually improve their competitiveness and transition to higher value-added stages in the global supply chain.

"As a state-owned enterprise in the industrial production and mechanical manufacturing sectors, with a strong commitment and clear objectives in mechanical engineering and the modernization of agricultural production and supporting industries, VEAM has consistently invested in technological innovation, enhanced production capacity, and improved the quality of its main product lines, including engines, agricultural machinery, automobiles, and supporting industrial products. VEAM's products are not only present in the domestic market but are also exported to more than 20 countries. In its core activities, VEAM has been actively participating in both domestic and international exhibitions, with VIMEXPO being one of the key events we attend annually," expressed Pham Anh Tuan.

From a local perspective, Nguyen Van Thanh, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Hai Phong, noted that, in recent times, thanks to favorable business conditions, preferential policies, and growth potential, Vietnam is facing a significant opportunity to integrate more deeply into the global supply chain, becoming an attractive destination for foreign investors. The attraction of major industrial manufacturing projects by leading global corporations and companies has created opportunities for Vietnam’s supporting industries in general, and for each locality in particular, contributing to the overall development of the supporting industry in Vietnam.

"Building on the success of the Vietnam International Exhibition on Supporting Industries and Manufacturing - VIMEXPO, I propose that the Ministry of Industry and Trade increase support for localities in trade promotion activities and the organization of fairs and exhibitions related to supporting industries and manufacturing," Thanh suggested.

The exhibition serves as a bridge for businesses to achieve positive outcomes in trade promotion and market development, creating opportunities for cooperation, expanding relationships, establishing partnerships, and accessing advanced global technologies. It strengthens the role of Vietnamese enterprises in participating in the global value and supply chains.

During the days of the exhibition, the VIMEXPO 2024 Organizing Committee, in collaboration with government agencies and specialized associations, will hold essential side activities for businesses to connect, such as the “Business Matching” program. This program will feature participation from leading buyers in Vietnam, including Toyota, Bosch, Samsung, Hyundai, Denso, TMT Motor, Canon, Hanel, and others. Additionally, there will be various technology demonstrations and other beneficial events organized by both domestic and international businesses over the three days of the exhibition.

With the theme “Connecting for Development,” VIMEXPO 2024 marks a significant milestone for the Ministry of Industry and Trade in its efforts to promote the development of Vietnam’s supporting industries and manufacturing sectors, contributing to the realization of the Party and State's directives and goals outlined in Central Committee Resolution No. 29-NQ/TW on November 17, 2022, and National Assembly Resolution No. 141/2024/QH15 on June 29, 2024.
