HCMC Forecast to Attract US$2.5 Bln FDI This Year
HCM city authorities said the city expects to attract US$2.5 billion of foreign direct investment (FDI) this year, up 11.9 per cent on-year.
The figure has brought the city’s FDI capital to US$16.1 billion from 2,507 projects so fare, topping the country in both project number and capital value.
Between January and ten months this year, the city licensed 349 new FDI projects valued at US$1.36 billion and allowed 130 existing project to raise their capital by US$245 million during the period.
The city also censed 14,100 new enterprises with a total capital of VND106 trillion (US$6.7 billion) since early this year, up 25 per cent in terms of quantify and 300 per cent in terms of capital value.
Of the licensed enterprises, 9,034 operate in both services and industrial fields, 3,178 in service sector, 116 in construction and another 117 in other areas.
Ho Chi Minh City is now home to over 90,000 domestic businesses with a total capital investment of VND384 trillion (US$24 billion). (Young People)
