US$17-Bln FDI Projects Registered for Border Economic Zone
Up to 12 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects totaling US$17 billion have been applied for a place in Bo Y International Border Gate Economic Zone (EZ) in Central Highlands Kon Tum province, Head of the EZ’s management board Nguyen The Dat said.
The largest project is a US$6 billion international airport by a Taiwanese investment group, Dat said.
It was followed by the Global Investment Enterprise Corporation’s plan to build a US$3-billion five-star hotel, an international trade area, an industrial zone and a golf course.
He added that the EZ has to date licensed six projects worth over VND435 billion (US$27.18 million).
Set up in 1999, Bo Y International Border Gate EZ of 70,438 hectares is targeted to play an important role in boosting economic activities between Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia under the Prime Minister’s decision. (VNA)
