Up to 150 Taiwanese businesses have invested in Vietnam’s textile and garment industry so far, taking the lead among foreign countries and territories, the Dau Tu newspaper reported, citing Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas).

Vitas said the sector is calling for more investment from Taiwan as well as other foreign countries in building textile, dyeing and thread plants in Vietnam with an aim to raise competitiveness for apparel exports.

Taiwanese enterprises are also providing a large source of materials and accessories such as fiber, thread and cloth for Vietnam’s export apparel sector, Vitas added.

Currently, Vietnam is housing 2,000 apparel businesses including 500 foreign-invested ones. (Investment)
