Vietnam Aviation Industry to Gain 6 per cent Growth: Boeing
Vietnam aviation industry will grow around 6 per cent yearly in the coming years when global aviation still faces with many difficulties, official of one of the world’s frontier aircraft makers, Boeing, forecast.
Boeing spokesman Jim Proulx said in the break of a course on the world aviation and commercial airplanes at the Vietnam Aviation Institute that the Vietnam’s growth will be like other aviation markets in Asian region.
The International Aviation Transport Association (IATA) had forecast that Vietnam aviation industry will reach a growth of 7.7 per cent in the period of 2007-2011.
Vietnam Airlines planned to buy and hire 20 Boeing 787-8s in 2015 and raise the fleet to 28 in 2020.
Vietnam is now seen as a potential market for Boeing with first three private airlines, including VietJet Air, Indochina Airlines, and Mekong Aviation.
Low cost carrier Jetstar Pacific Airlines is now using 5 Boeing 737-400s while Indochina Airlines is running 2 Boeing 737-800s. (Saigon Times Daily)
