Vietnam Apparels, Footwear Exports Down 1.3 per cent, 8.8 per cent in H1

Vietnam’s apparel and footwear exports are estimated at US$4.075 billion and US$2.065 billion, respectively, in the first half of this year, down 1.3 per cent and 8.8 per cent on year, said the General Statistic Office June 25.
 
In June, the apparel sector is estimated to have earned US$800 million from the shipment, up 14.94 per cent on-month while the footwear industry raked in $400 million, up 6.95 per cent on- month.
 
In the six-month period, Vietnam is forecast to have imported $3.390 billion of cottons, textile fibers, cloth and materials for the industries of apparel and footwear.
 
Of the total, the country spent $136 million on cottons, (down 38.9 per cent on-year), $355 million on textile fibers (-10.7 per cent), $1.976 billion on cloth (-10.7 per cent), and $923 million on apparel and footwear accessories (-23.9 per cent). (GSO June 2009)
