Vietnam Jan-Jun Domestic Coal Supply Up 1.8 per cent at 11.2M Tons

The coal sector of Vietnam supplied a total of 11.2 million tons of coal for domestic industrial consumption in the first seven months of this year, up 1.8 per cent from the same period last year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade reported.
 
Between January and May, the cement sector consumed 2.13 million tons, the fertilizer industry used 310,000 tons, the electricity sector consumed 3.64 million tons, up 7.7 per cent, 10.6 per cent and down 7 per cent, respectively, from the same period last year, the People’s Police newspaper said, quoting the ministry as saying Friday, August 6.
 
Vietnam may float coal prices for industries that consume large amounts of coal beginning in the fourth quarter this year.
 
The state-owned Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin), the country’s largest coal producer, expects coal production of 43 million tons this year to serve domestic demand and for export. (People’s Police)
