Vietnam Exports US$14.877B of Agro-Forestry, Seafood Products in 2009
Vietnam is estimated to have earned US$14.877 billion from export of major agro-forestry and seafood products in 2009, down 8.8% compared to that in 2008, the Government’s General Statistics Office (GSO) said.
In 2009, export revenue of rubber fell 25.2% to US$1.199 billion, export of handicrafts decreased 20.5% to US$179 million, coffee down 19% to US$1.71 billion from a year ago.
Exports of timber and woodworks fell 9.9% to US$2.55 billion, of rice fell 8% to US$2.662 billion though Vietnam exported a record volume of 5.947 million tons; and cashew nut dropped 6.8% to US$849 million.
The country also witnessed a decrease in seafood export by 6.7% against the same period last year to US$4.207 billion.
Meanwhile, cassava export grew 52.8% to US$556 million, shipments of tea rose 21.3% to US$178 million, pepper and vegetable and fruits increased 14.3% and 6.1% to US$356 million and US$431 million, respectively. (GSO)
