Overspending Reaches VND30,650 Bln in Jan-June
The Ministry of Finance said the State Budget collected VND242 trillion in the first six months of 2010, a rise of 21.6 % from the same period of 2009 while it spent VND273 trillion in the six-month period, up 21.3 %.
As a result, the budget deficit was VND30.65 trillion, equal to only 25.6 % of the amount approved by the National Assembly, staying at 6.2 % of the country’s GDP.
Although the overspending amount climbed some VND2 trillion from a year earlier, it rose more slowly. The overspending in the January-June period was estimated to account for 28.6 % of the full-year target.
The Ministry of Finance said the amount of overspending is usually larger in the second half of a year.
