“Enhancing Macro Policy Coordination on Curbing Inflation”
This is the topic of a scientific conference hosted by the Standing Council of Banking Science and Technology in Ho Chi Minh City.
Participants frankly discussed and assessed the effects of policy coordination on curbing inflation, particularly monetary policy, fiscal policy, trade policy, and import and export policy. They also spoke highly of the contributions of the banking sector in exercising the Government’s measures concerning tightened monetary policy in an attempt to stave off inflation.
However, many pointed out that it is not enough to only focus on executing tightened monetary policy to tame inflation, but good coordination is needed with other policies like tight fiscal policy, public investment reduction, budget deficit easing, and production and export promotion.
