Vietrans Haiphong: A Good Business Culture

Business culture entails the ethics and values espoused by a business in their activities, affecting their operation and development. That much is true in the case of Haiphong Transport and Warehouse Company (Vietrans Haiphong). The company was established on 13 August 1970, the first of its kind in Vietnam. Riding through economic ups and downs, the company proved its role in the economic development of the city and the country. After the termination of economic subsidies, Vietrans Haiphong, like others, was confronted with both challenges and opportunities to find a new approach to grow and expand its business scale. The company paid special attention to the development of a solid business culture. Mr. Tran Dinh Kim, Company Director said “Business development does not only mean the increase of capital, profit and income but also the creation of a fair and healthy business environment. Business culture determines business efficiency as it operates in all business activities - management, organisation and partnership”.

In 2003, the company restructured and improved its labour force, increasing productivity and growth rates and at the same time creating more jobs and assisting workers in the development of household economies.

At present, the company has over 150,000 sq. m of warehousing and loading areas for domestic and international trade and transport by river, sea, air or land. The company has also operated support services such as re-processing, packaging, and upgraded its equipment and storage facilities to meet growing client needs. Vietrans Haiphong has a TNT network in over 200 countries and territories to ensure a fast and reliable transport service. The city has also assisted the company in expanding related businesses namely maritime services, ship leasing and import-export activities.

Evidently, a good business culture has assisted Vietrans Haiphong in its success, engendering a sense of responsibility and pride in workers, promoting talents and creating prestige with clients.
